Here are some lichens and such. For those of you that don't know lichens are organisms composed of an algae and a fungus living in symbiotic harmony. They evolved early on in earth's history, live a really long time, and essentially only need something to grow on (bark, rock, plastic, etc.), water, light and air to continue living. They inhabit most of the places on earth were nothing else can grow. In short I'm a little obsessed! The middle photo is not a lichen but the flower and leaf buds of one of my favorite shrubs Hobblebush (Viburnum lantanoides). Enjoy!
